Monday, August 11th the Wailers will be lending their infamous reggae sound to help feed hungry children around the world. Proceeds from this special performance will benefit Friends of the World Food Program and will directly support the United Nations World Food Program’s global hunger relief initiatives. The UN World Food Program is the largest humanitarian organization in the world, reaching an average of 88 million people in 80 of the world’s poorest countries each year with a wide range of food assistance programs. Soaring food and fuel prices have created a global food crisis, but you can join the Wailers and WFP in the fight against hunger: One ticket feeds one child in a WFP-assisted school for one year. One ticket, one child, one year, one love.
Rich Reardin is a guest host to interview The Wailers Aston “Family Man” Barrett, Junior Marvin, and lead singer Elan Atias. In time, The Wailers lost Aston’s brother Carlton “Carlie” Barrett. And also they are donating their money to the UNITED NATIONS WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME.

It was trial by fire - literally - when lead singer Elan Atais played his first gig with the Wailers. He had never practiced with the group, and the outdoor concert in Dubuque was performed against a backdrop of jagged lightning strikes.
“I really wasn’t scared. I just wanted to make sure I got the lyrics right, because I knew everyone in the audience knew the lyrics,” Atais said. In that original gig, he was depending on his memory of the band’s records that filled his childhood growing up in Los Angeles.
When the set was finished, a steamy rain came down like liquid applause, he said.
